Writing touches everything a child does in school, yet it doesn’t come easily to most kids and can interfere with their confidence and success. I love the challenge of helping my students find their voice, put words on the page that reflect their good ideas, and fight through blocks. Some of my students struggle with daily output at school and at home and I help them gain confidence to complete tasks and feel proud of their work.

My main goal for my students is to understand themselves better as writers, to see their strengths and weaknesses and to learn strategies to be more effective editors. I offer instruction for students in grades 3-12 that enhances the current curriculum in their local school districts and provides additional guidance and practice in all writing genres.

My individualized approach allows me to be flexible and responsive to each student’s needs and growth patterns. Writing on a variety of fiction and non-fiction topics, my students embrace creative risk, develop fluency and versatility with multiple genres, and learn how to organize their ideas before they begin to write.

Another goal is to build my students’ independence, teaching them how to approach assignments and essays with a clear sense of purpose and structure, as well as developing their critical thinking skills.

“I create an engaging and safe environment where my students feel supported and appreciated as they explore the challenges and rewards of writing.”

See What Parents Have to Say

  • I sought out Judith’s help when I recognized that my bright and creative 6th grade son couldn’t write proper sentences, nor could he master a narrative. A quarter of weekly meetings with Judith fixed this, in addition to providing him with the tools to leverage his natural talents. All that in addition to becoming his friend. Someone to speak to and confide in. We are so lucky to have had Judith’s help and presence in his life. Now his top scores are in English and writing overall. Can’t say enough great things about her.

  • My middle school child has greatly benefited from Judith's tutoring in ELA. She has provided effective strategies to help with vocabulary, writing, and reading comprehension, resulting in noticeable improvements in grades and confidence. I highly recommend her as a tutor.

  • Judith is absolutely amazing. She started working with my son in 6th grade, and, at the time, he was behind on his writing abilities. She worked with him all throughout middle school and he really clicked with her. He just finished his first year of high school as a high honor roll student. This would not have been possible without all of her help throughout the middle school years.

  • I sought out a writing tutor to work with my MMS student. Although his grades were solid, the curriculum did not provide sufficient focus on the fundamentals of writing. Judith was the perfect match. She provided meaningful writing instruction while focusing on topics of interest to my son to keep him engaged. I am much more confident in my son's writing skills and communication skills more generally as he heads into high school. In addition to providing great assistance in writing, she has a deep understanding of education and provided guidance on topics beyond my child's writing.
