Being an educator has shaped who I am and how I see the world. I hold a BA in English Literature from UC Berkeley and a Masters in Education from Harvard University. I have taught middle school in public schools in Concord and Needham, Massachusetts and then at The Winsor School. After moving to New York City, I taught for the Prep for Prep program and sixth and seventh grade at The Nightingale Bamford School. For the past 19 years, I have run my own business, providing writing and reading instruction to students from elementary grades through high school. My classroom teaching experience, in both public and private settings, gives me a clear understanding of what students need at different stages of their development and informs my work with my students.

Beyond the academic sphere, I have worked as an educator for the Girl’s Leadership Institute, leading parent-daughter workshops and am a trained mindfulness educator. My approach with students in any setting is to build them up from within.

Besides teaching, my passions include dance, yoga, traveling, reading and writing. I write middle-grade fiction and have completed two novels. I live in Maplewood, New Jersey with my husband and our sweet pup, Jorja. My two college-aged kids pop in every now and then too.
